Our new history magazine aims to offer you an insight into the wide range of projects that we have been working on over the past year at the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation. We have intentionally chosen not to design the magazine as a classic summary of our activities. That would be too dry, as we know how such reports often quickly find their way into the recycling bin as soon as they are unpacked. It would also not align with our working concept for the memorial. We would like to inspire a reflection on history and how its effects are sustained in the present; we would like to strengthen the awareness of history and the ability to evaluate historical events among members of society. Remembrance calls for knowledge, as we always say, and our magazine, which will appear annually, is designed to contribute to this mission.
The magazine is intended to convey highlights and special aspects of our work, new projects, and research topics. In addition, it will present innovative educational formats for discussion. As a form of historical and political intervention, the magazine accompanies and initiates cultural and political debates of historical relevance. Each annual edition will have a different thematic focus.
We do not only wish to include texts written by foundation staff members. Instead, we have chosen to also invite external authors to enhance the content of our magazine. Their contributions are aimed to convey knowledge, arouse curiosity, and inspire discussion.
The annual magazine is available for free download at the bottom of this page or in printed form in our
