The conversation with Éva Fahidi-Pusztai has to be cancelled!
"Éva Fahidi-Pusztai was deprived of her family in Auschwitz and, after years of silence, found a generational language of remembrance full of inspiring power and with a touching message of humanity." This is how the Jochen Bock Award 2014 honoured the now 97-year-old Shoah survivor, who touched the visitors of the memorial site with her testimony in many encounters. We owe two impressive special exhibitions to her inspiration and personality: "Un-er-setz-bar. Encounter with Survivors" (2012) and "Éva's Apple Soup or the Scent of Home. A Tribute to Éva Fahidi-Pusztai and Life" (2021).
Éva Fahidi-Pusztai also shows her great interest in scholarly education about the Shoah with her extensive private library. She has now donated books from it to the Place of Remembrance because she wants to support our educational work. With this donation, an important part of her life finds a new home in the Topf & Sons Place of Remembrance. In 2018, we named our specialist library, which now contains over 4,000 media, the Éva Fahidi-Pusztai Library in her honour.
The discussion with her and her partner Andor Andrási will revolve around the topics of education about the Shoah, future remembrance culture, educational work and books.
Afterwards, the library and media library will be open to visitors with video interviews with survivors, including Éva Fahidi-Pusztai.
