Traces of the Soviet Occupation in Weimar 1945-1950

Guided tour on Thursday, 20 April 2023 at 4 p.m., meeting point: Liszt House, Weimar

After the withdrawal of the US troops in July 1945, Weimar became the centre of the Soviet military administration for Thuringia and an important military location. Traces of this period can still be found in many places in the city today. They tell of power and repression, but also of a new cultural beginning and difficult rapprochements after the end of the Second World War.

Duration: approx. 2 hours

A guided tour for the "Friends of the City Museum", interested persons are welcome.

(The previously announced guided tour on 31 May 2023 must unfortunately be cancelled).

An event organised by the Buchenwald and Mittelbau Dora Memorials Foundation in cooperation with the Landeszentrale für politische Bildung Thüringen.
